I watched the Myo (妙) bonfire of the Gozan no Okuribi from the Takaragaike Driving School in Matsugasaki, and it was absolutely amazing. The view was so close and clear, and unlike the more crowded spots in the city, it wasn’t packed at all. That made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable.

They even had stalls selling shaved ice and beer, which made it feel like a summer festival atmosphere. Honestly, it felt like a hidden gem — a perfect place to enjoy the bonfire without the stress of big crowds. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for a more comfortable way to experience this Kyoto tradition.
