Hand-Painted Yuzen Workshop & Studio Tour (Fushimi – Okayama Kogei)
Mondays–Fridays in 2025 (excluding certain dates)

Step into the refined world of Kyoto’s hand-painted Yuzen dyeing — watch artisans at work and try the craft yourself at Okayama Kogei in Fushimi.
In 2025, Okayama Kogei, a renowned Yuzen dyeing studio located near Fushimi Inari Taisha, offers weekday Hand-Painted Yuzen experiences. This program combines a behind-the-scenes look at an authentic workshop with a hands-on chance to color your own design under the guidance of master artisans.
The experience begins with an introduction to the history and process of Kyo-Yuzen, followed by a guided studio tour where you can see artisans sketching patterns and mixing dyes. Participants then choose a pre-drawn design and bring it to life with color using traditional brushes and dyes. Finally, you can browse original Yuzen-inspired goods such as purses, wallets, and cases in the studio shop.
