Explore Kyoto’s cultural & industrial heritage in the renovated Tomioka Tessai Residence — free public tours are available in December for a limited time.
On December 12-13, 2025, the facility “Kyo-Washin-an – Cultural & Industrial Exchange Base” (former Tomioka Tessai Residence) will be open to the public. Organized by the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce & Industry as part of their 140th anniversary and support projects for Kyoto’s cultural office relocation, this event invites everyone to visit and appreciate the restored historic house.
- Schedule: December 12 (Fri) from 14:00 to 16:00; December 13 (Sat) from 10:00 to 13:00.<br>Admission ends 30 minutes before closing each day.
- Admission: Free, no need to reserve in advance for individuals. For groups of 10+, prior consultation is appreciated.
- Access: Just about a 6-minute walk from Imadegawa Station. No parking or bicycle parking available — please use public transportation.
