Blue Maple Night Illumination at Ninna-ji Temple 2026

5月 30, 2026

📅 May 22 – June 28, 2026 (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays)

As Kyoto enters the season of fresh green maple leaves, one of the city’s most atmospheric night events returns.

At Ninna-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visitors can enjoy a special evening illumination featuring glowing blue-green maple trees, drifting clouds of mist, and a peaceful 528Hz healing soundscape.

The highlight of the event is the breathtaking view of the temple grounds covered in a sea of mist. The illuminated green maples and the National Treasure Kondo Hall appear to float above the clouds, creating a dreamlike landscape unlike anywhere else in Kyoto.

The event combines traditional temple architecture with light, sound, and nature, offering a relaxing nighttime experience away from the crowds of central Kyoto.

Visitors can also enjoy the quiet atmosphere of Ninna-ji after dark, when the historic temple takes on an entirely different character from its daytime appearance.

If you’re looking for a unique Kyoto night experience this early summer, this is one of the most beautiful events of the season.
